Let’s get to know…Ben Palphramand
All of the BM team have come together to answer a few questions to give a little insight into their creative selves. First up, our graphic designer Ben.
Who or what is your main influence?
Personally, I’m influenced by people who are positive, game for a laugh and are unashamedly themselves. In terms of design, there’s so much to choose from, which is basically the point of graphic design. There are so many ways in which you can visually tell a story or convey a message, so it’s beneficial to have a broad spectrum of influences that can help inform you on how to approach these tasks.
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Creative, attentive, considerate.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
Conceptualising and creating. It’s incredibly rewarding work to be able to develop ideas from initial conceptions to the final product. Having a great team to work with through the creative process is a massive reason why I love my job. It’s almost like an unwritten rule that we all support each other and make sure that the studio is a positive place to be.
What’s your biggest pet-peeve?
When people don’t brew a tea for long enough. I don’t want to drink hot milky water.
If you could try any other profession, what would it be?
There’s so many jobs I’d love to try but I’d say probably something like joinery or carpentry, making things!
If there was a book written about your life, what would the title be and why?
‘Shyness is nice’ A little reference to The Smiths. When I was younger I was cripplingly shy and quiet but I’ve gotten better with it as I’ve gotten older. I now try to embrace my shyness as a positive. Kinda.
If you could give your teenage self some advice, what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to try and fail or make a fool of yourself, no one’s that bothered.
Where would you consider to be your happy place?
Walking through the countryside listening to music.
Do you have a hidden talent?
Can do a few accents and impressions much to the annoyance of my colleagues.
