Branding and Tone Of Voice for a local brewery that wanted to make its links with our city and county as clear as day.
Raising the bar for Yorkshire Brewhouse
Founded in 2017, during Hull’s year as the UK City of Culture, we were asked to create a brand that immediately reflects the brewery’s roots and personality. This included us getting to name its first offerings, which really stand out on bars – after all, it’s not every day you come across a beer announcing “EY UP” or “REET” in such a forthright fashion.
The brand that we created alludes to certain Yorkshire characteristics. Namely, no nonesense, straight to the point and always up for a laugh. We looked at creating an old school, traditional feel that would still be bold and recogniseable.
Being Yorkshire lads and lasses ourselves, we’re very familiar with the sheer amount of local slang and phraseology that is used in this part of the world. So we thought that this would be a nice way to inject some personality into the identity of YBH.

Doffing its flat cap!
With its “FAITHFUL” inspired by Hull FC, “RED ROBIN” nodding to Hull KR and “1904” doffing its flat cap to Hull City the brand has a tangible pride in its hometown. These are complemented by “EYPA”, an East Yorkshire take on the good old-fashioned pale ale.
